Jodhpurs or Breeches
March 2017
Breeches and Jodhpurs are types of horse riding attire. They are very similar to each other making it difficult for beginner horse riding enthusiasts to decide between the two.
Jodhpurs are named after a North Indian city of Jodhpur. These riding pants reach right down to the ankle and some styles also have a cuff at the bottom.
Breeches on the other hand originated in England and generally come to just below knee length. They will sometime have a Velcro strap to allow adjustment of fitting
The main criteria for deciding between jodhpurs and breeches would be driven by the riding boots you prefer to ride in. While jodhpurs can be used with long and short boots (and gaiters) a horse rider can really only make use of breeches if wearing top boots
